Pele posts video as his health continues to improve
Brazilian legend Pele is set to exit semi-intensive care at a hospital in Sao Paulo after pleasing doctors with his recovery from a kidney disease.
The 74-year-old has been in this good mood Friday that he posted a video on Facebook that showed him playing guitar as he assured fans that he is in good health and to thank them for their support.
The three times World Cup winner has been treated at the Hospital of Albert Einstein since November 24, after being diagnosed with an infection of the urinary tract resulting from an operation to remove kidney stones 11 days earlier.
He has only one kidney, having had one removed towards the end of his playing career.
A hospital statement, signed by doctors Fabio Nasri and Marcelo Costa Batista and Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Miguel Cendoroglo Neto, announced that Pele would be transferred to another room due to its state of improvement.
His version: "the patient do Edson Arantes Nascimento (Pelé) continues with no sign of infection and is taking antibiotics intravenously.
"Because of its clinical improvement and stability, it must be moved to a room."
In his video appearance, former Santos star said: 'don't worry. Thank you very much. I know that everyone worry about my health, but I agree.
"Thanks to God and thanks to all who pray always for me.'
He also extended an invitation to fans around the world to visit the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
