Premier League: Arsene Wenger praises Alexis Sanchez' impact at Arsenal after goal beats Southampton
Arsène Wenger had been "fabulous" signature of Alexis Sanchez thanked last-minute Arsenal Premier League win over Southampton.
Winning 89th minute of Chile at the Emirates was the only goal of the game and took Arsenal within three points of third place of the Saints.
It was also a 14th goal in 18 games for Sanchez and following the game that Wenger was struggling to remember any player who has so perfectly adapted to a new environment.
"Alexis is one of the players who had to dig deep, but he still had the desire to fight," said the Arsenal boss. "He always finds something special to get a goal.
"It is difficult to find examples of someone who has so quickly at a club. He arrived in July, and now it's December. When you look at the number of goals he and the impact that it has on the team, it is fabulous."
Arsenal have been repeatedly frustrated by the visiting goalkeeper Fraser Forster, nothing more, while substitute Olivier Giroud, until the breakthrough came with the Saints up 10 men having all three changes before losing Toby Alderweireld injury.
