Premier League: Stoke chairman Peter Coates fined after being found guilty of 'improper conduct'
Stoke Chairman Peter Coates has been recognized guilty of improper conduct on the criticism of referees.
Coates has been fined £ 5,000, was warned about his conduct future and ordered to pay £ 1,500 at the expense of the hearing for comments that "alleged or implied bias on the part of arbitrators and/or tendency which was discredited the game".
The incident occurred when, while speaking to the local newspaper the Sentinel last month after a series of matches where Stoke felt that they were being mistreated, Coates said: "we think that we still do not have equal treatment and that is all we ask for.
"It seems to be a bias towards the other teams. You always feel that because we have a good crowd that gets behind the team, referees seem to think, 'I'll show them who is in charge here. »
Coates denied the charge and requested a personal hearing, where he was found guilty by the independent regulatory commission.
"I am annoyed by it, really, I thought that it was completely unnecessary and disappointed, but now, they have done and I went because I was annoyed and disappointed," Coates told Sky Sports News HQ.
"I don't think I should have been charged and I agree with the conclusions of the Council.
Stoke Manager Mark Hughes believes Coates was hard for that and said he was surprised that the President was charged in the first place.
He said: "we had the FA above and the body of the arbitrator. I know for a fact that it is never put in doubt their integrity and it reserves the right to have its opinion. This is something that could have been dealt with in a different way.
"When it gets to the stage of the appeal, it is very rare, that it runs counter to the initial charge. That tells you something. »
