Premier League: Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart close to new contract
Manchester City Joe Hart goalkeeper is close to signing a new contract, Manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed.
The English international for 27 years has been in talks with the Gunners on the extension of his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2016.
Pellegrini said before the clash on Saturday with Everton: "I have always said it is important for this club to keep Joe with us."
"It is a very good keeper and not only a very good goalkeeper, it is very important for the team as player. So - perhaps - in the next day you'll have good news.
"Joe is having a very good season. The arrival of Willy Caballero has been very important for the club, for Joe, for Willy, for everyone - because it is a very good goalkeeper.
"I think that the best way for players to have high performance is when they have an important competition. I think it was very helpful for him and I am very pleased with this. »
City will be without influential Captain Vincent Kompany for the Toffees' visit at the Etihad Stadium after the Belgium defender suffered a hamstring injury.
The Chilean added: "Vincent, perhaps in the way that he plays, is more exposed to injury because he's still playing with 100% intensity and it works every day in the same way.
"But we hope the same thing that has spent the last season - it will handle these injuries." They are significant injuries, but not very long injuries. »
